Board Member Spotlight
Member Spotlight – Emily Seitz Pawlak
Greetings! My name is Emily Seitz Pawlak, and I am honored to serve as a new member on the Board of Directors to the Southwest Ohio (SWO) HFMA chapter. My day job is serving as the vice president of Revenue Cycle for TriHealth, located in Cincinnati, OH, where I oversee 750 amazing team members. Together we are responsible for collecting about $2B in cash on an annual basis. I have worked in the Revenue Cycle space now for about 22 years, but who’s counting?! J
Professionally, I started my career at TriHealth where I spent 11 years in various leadership roles within the revenue cycle. I then took an opportunity with Mercy Health, also based in Cincinnati, OH, and was fortunate to advance several times during my almost-9 years with that system, learning and growing a great deal during this period as there was much change with the organization then. I then had the fortune to come back to TriHealth about 2 ½ years ago and serve in an even larger capacity. I absolutely love what I do and what we do in Revenue Cycle because we have an opportunity to truly make a difference to our patients, our team members and our organization. From an educational background, I have a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Cincinnati and a Master in Health Services Administration degree from Xavier University. I also hold the HFMA Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP) designation.
Speaking of professional development, I love to learn and have been a member of the SWO chapter of HFMA for at least 10+ years and have attended events through the chapter even longer. Having been a part of various professional groups during my career, I can tell you that HFMA-SWO is a fantastic organization full of healthcare professionals, like you and me, working hard to stay current on the latest topics and trends, grow professionally and ultimately give back to the next generation to develop our future leaders. Everyone is friendly and helpful, which makes it easy to come to events and even get more involved. In my new role as a board member, I’ve also joined the Program Committee and we are in charge of identifying and selecting speakers for our various educational events. Being part of this group is a great opportunity to meet other professionals in my community to build out my network, as well as learn from others and/or their organizations. And did I mention that we like to have fun?! J I would certainly encourage you to come to our events to learn. Also, if you’re looking for new ways to sharpen your skills and/or challenge yourself, then get more involved in one of the committees. We’d love to have you.
On a personal level, I am married and we have three children between us. My husband, Ross, is a Lieutenant with the Miami Twp Fire & EMS department. His daughter, Mackenzie, is a sophomore at the University of Pikeville in Pikeville, KY, studying pre-medicine and playing softball. My son, Zachary, is a senior at Milford High School and just committed to play Division 1 baseball at Wofford College in Spartansburg, SC. Together we have Addison, our first grader, who is into music and sports. In my free time, I love to be spend time with my family, be outside, exercise and travel.
